Join us for this informative and insightful four-part workshop series where we will examine the ages and stages of appropriate toddler discipline strategies (18m-3years +). We examine the phases of cognitive, social & emotional development so you have a better–and deeper–understanding of how to support and guide your child through the more difficult times in his little life. You will learn how to better interpret your child’s behavior, how to build his emotional vocabulary and expressive language skills, how to connect and tune in to his needs and how to address unwanted and negative behaviors.
$25.00 PER SESSION. $35.00 Walk-In.
Special package pricing and pricing for couples available. See below.
PAST: February 4, 2013-Translating “Toddler-ese”: Decode the messages behind your toddler’s behavior–what is he saying he really needs? Learn to help your toddler link feelings to language to improve communication, decrease frustration & tantrums, and increase positive behavior. Learn effective and easy ways to diffuse difficult situations by knowing what to say, how to say it and when to say it. Most importantly, we will discuss how to connect with your toddler, validate his feelings and let him know that you hear him. You will leave with 15 concrete ways to connect with your toddler that you can begin using at home right away. We guarantee you will come away feeling more empathetic toward your toddler and empowered to begin addressing challenge areas.
PAST: March 11, 2013-Discipline & Boundary Setting: All children need limits and boundaries. Testing the boundaries and pushing back is a normal part of toddler development, but knowing when/how to enforce rules and how to address negative and unwanted behavior can be very overwhelming to parents. In this session, you will learn about parenting styles, how to achieve the parenting “sweet spot,” age-appropriate discipline techniques and strategies, including redirection & distraction, incentives (and yes, bribery), positive reinforcement, time out/”taking a break” techniques, and more. After this workshop you will feel confident that you can not only navigate through the difficult phases, but that you will know how to do it with compassion, empathy and with a strong connection to your child.
PAST-April 8th, 2013-The Art of Playdating & Public Discipline: Playdates are supposed to be fun for mom & child and most of the time they are but what do you do when your child melts down, has a tantrum, smacks another child, draws on someone’s sofa, won’t join in play or clings to you? Maybe your child has a hard time sticking up for himself, is always getting his toys taken away, and is the “victim” of rough play. How do you respond? How do you manage undesirable behaviors when you are surrounded by other moms or out in public? We will also discuss how to handle public meltdowns & tantrums, how to stay consistent with discipline measures when you are not at home, what consequences work when you are out and about and much more. Toddlers push the boundaries everywhere…this workshop will prepare you to respond appropriately.
PAST-May 6th, 2013- “EQ,” Your Toddler’s Social/Emotional Health: Do you have a tender-hearted little one on your hands? Maybe she’s painfully shy, or doesn’t stick up for herself? Maybe he immediately falls apart when things don’t go his way, or can’t “bounce back” when a perceived injustice occurs? Then this workshop is for you. Learn how to teach coping mechanisms, encourage flexibility & resilience and how to build your toddler’s self confidence . We will also discuss ways to model compassion & empathy, how to facilitate more independent problem-solving skills and self-control and how to address lying when you suspect your child is stretching the truth.
We want parents to learn, grow and support one another so that you feel like true partners in raising your children. Therefore, we encourage you and your partner to attend both sessions together and offer special pricing in the hopes that this will happen!
